Club Marena is less than an hour south of the San Diego International Airport and located in the most desirable geographic in the coastal area of Baja California Mexico. Located on Bahia Descanso, in between Calafia point and the Historic Lobster Village of Puerto Nuevo, Club Marena is on a south facing coastline, not unlike Malibu, Laguna & La Jolla, which puts it in the lee of weather patterns and has the breeze traveling parallel to the coastline. The result is a more favorable climate than even just a few miles up the coast. Warmer & dryer in winter and cooler in summer than other areas and without a straight onshore breeze the sea-air takes less of a toll on your oceanfront residence, patio furniture, etc… You will find people sunning in their bathing suits year-round at one of the oceanfront pools.
The atmosphere is that of a Riviera Style Resort with will manicured gardens, ample palm trees doting well-manicured lawns, fountains, ponds, gardens and beautiful amenities stationed conveniently on either end of the project. All overlooking the scenic bay and historic Surf cove Beach of K38. For over 30 years it has been considered the best managed & maintained resort in the area.
Club Marena's 27 VILLAS were started in 1989 and finished in 1992. They are a row of 2 story beach homes that each have and attached private garage, an oceanfront master an oceanfront patio with sunny outdoor living space and an open floor plan with views of the oceanfront everywhere. Every villa has a gas fireplace in the living area and the master bedroom. Each villa has its own character and different touches. While the floor plans are similar, they differ in significant ways with some having 2 bedrooms and other up to four. They have steps down to the grass that leads to the sea and each has its own character due to improvements made by owners over time.
Club Marena's first condo building, LAS FLORAS, was started in 1992 and finished n 1994. It is a six story low rise condo building with six 1, 2 and three bedroom units per floor. Spacious and beautiful each condo has step down living areas, and oceanfront master, spacious open floor plan and each has its own private garage. The garden units, like all garden units in Club Marena and larger spacious patios with sunny outdoor living space. The penthouse units have higher ceilings and only occupy 4 units for the entire floor. They are spectacular. The building features beautiful ponds with fountains and little bridge is coming off the front and all units have an incredible ocean view.
Club Marena's second tower is the LAS BRISAS building. This mid-rise tower was started in 1994 and finished in 1996. It features 10 floors with the penthouses each occupying two floors at the top. The garden units feature an extra bedroom in the back and have again the big extended sunny open patios. There are a total of 18 units and each has an amazing oceanfront master bedroom with a large walk through closet jetted tubs and double vanities. It was at this point when the developers started building properties where the elevator bays only served 2 units. This made them much more private and exclusive. the pen houses and garden units have two car garages. The other units each yet either an underground parking space with storage or a carport space.
When that tower was completed the developer decided to build a 4000 sqft custom home on the lot it was at the very East End of the row of villas that had been undeveloped. That was completed in 1997 and is the only fully detached custom home in Club Marena and is know as VILLA ONE.
Club Marena's third building, LAS OLAS, was started in 1996 and finished in 2000. It was the first of the high rise towers with 12 floors of two units. Each individual unit is approximately 3200 square feet. However, some floors were built into one unit making them up to 6000 square feet. On the backside of the building on floors 6 and eight there are an additional patio that faces to the West side. This makes them unique condos that have patios on both sides. They are all built as luxury homes with high ceilings, attention to detail, stepdown living areas & bedrooms and spacious hallways. Each has oceanfront living areas and a master bedrooms with fireplaces. The floor plans vary but most have two additional bedrooms and a large den on the west (mountain side) of the property. Most of the properties have a tandem space with a large storage unit in the underground parking . However some of them have private parking garages and a couple have parking in the carport behind the building.
Club Marena's fourth building, LAS CONCHAS, was started in 2001 and finished in 2005 and is a very similar to the las olas. The featured a littler higher ceilings and some updating but for the most part have all of the great features of the predecessor.Each property has A2 card tandem space with a large storage unit with the exception of some of the properties having two car private garages in either the underground parking facility or a row of garages that sits just outside the building.
PUNTA MARENA was the fifth Club Marena tower and was completed in 2010. It features three sections with at most 2 units per floor an each has a private elevator. The first of which is LAS PERLAS that has 12 floors, 2 units per floor , each unit being 1524 square feet . However, on some floors 2 units were combined to make one large 3000 square foot unit. Those units are unique in that they are as deep as they are wide, so they feature quite a bit of ocean frontage. The penthouse and the garden units are both this way. Every property gets one parking space in the private underground facility some of which have been built into private garages. THE PUNTA MARENA Section of the building features 2 units per floor one of which is 1720 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths one of the bedrooms being an oceanfront master with a jetted tub and a walk-in closet. The second unit on the floor are the true treasures of Club Marena. 4000 square feet of wraparound condominium with more windows than walls. 3 oceanfront suites with the master being spectacular having a jetted tub of fireplace in a large walk-in closet. The open floor plans are simply breathtaking, and one must see them to truly appreciate them you can see what they look like in one of my open house videos here.
The final section is Las Vejas and in that part of the building the condos are approximately 1500 square feet on one side and 1700 square feet on the 2nd the smaller of the two is very similar to the last perlas units in floor plan. The larger of the two has a wraparound patio and a very unique floor plan. These all also have fireplaces in the living area.
The most current phase of the development is represented by the Seahouz towers. Started in 2015 the first tower of 15 units expected to be completed by the end of 2020.
As for amenities, Club Marena features two large recreation areas each having its own swimming pool jacuzzi and clubhouse. The southeast clubhouse has a workout facility an outdoor kitchen, barbecue area, a large game room with pool tables, ping pong, a yoga area, and a small banquet room period it also has a kids pool and stairs down to the private Cove beach. The northwest facility has a clubhouse with a rooftop sunset patio an outdoor kitchen a banquet room below and a “saline” swimming pool and jacuzzi. There is also a cardio room and gym as well as a beach and surf storage room for surfboards, SUP’s and Kayaks. There is a ramp to the private cove in that area as well. Club Marena also a beautiful tennis facility that is likely one of the finest on the coast. Featuring 2 championship courts and practice walls. Behind that area is a spacious dog park the size of a football field that is double gated and features a park-like setting.
In all, there is nothing like Club Marena anywhere on the West coast of North America. It features true luxury living at a fraction of the cost of the US. One really needs to come and visit and see the development to truly appreciate how amazing and wonderful place it is to visit and live.
